-- Leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia, and Cuba have extended their congratulations to Vo Van Thuong on his election as State President of Vietnam on Thursday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- Police in Dak Lak Province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, said on Wednesday they had busted a gambling ring whose transactions reached VND250 billion (US$10.5 million).

-- Vietnam Airlines will re-initiate its joint venture agreement with Air France after a COVID-induced halt, said Nguyen Tien Hoang, chief of the airline's France and Europe branch.

-- Four Vietnamese firms -- Bamboo Airways, carmaker VinFast, Vietnam Airlines, and lender VietinBank -- are joining the small- and medium-sized enterprises' day held by the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW) on Wednesday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast delivered its first 45 cars to customers in California on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

-- "The Brazilian Agriculture Ministry said on Thursday that Thailand, Iran and Jordan have temporarily suspended imports of beef from Brazil while authorities investigate a case of mad-cow disease in an animal from Para State," according to a statement sent to Reuters.

-- "A hidden corridor nine metres (30 feet) long has been discovered close to the main entrance of the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid of Giza, and this could lead to further findings, Egyptian antiquities officials said on Thursday," Reuters reported.
