Two children died after a fire swept through a local house in Thanh Hoa Province, north-central Vietnam on Sunday morning.

The deadly fire took place at 4:20 am on Nguyen Van Huyen Street, Ba Dinh Ward, Thanh Hoa City.

At the time of the incident, five family members were trapped inside the three-story house, with three of them stuck on the second floor and two kids in the attic.

Rescuers sawed through an iron window frame on the second floor to take the three people out and send them to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

When firefighters approached the attic floor and brought down the two occupants, both of them were found dead.

The two kids, the house owner’s children, were identified as N.N.A., four, and N.T.N.D, eight.

The cause of the fatal fire remains under investigation.
