Police in Thua Thien-Hue Province, located in central Vietnam, announced the successful apprehension of a female fugitive on Monday who had managed to elude a police arrest warrant for two decades and was discovered living under an alias in Ho Chi Minh City.

Pham Thi No, 50, residing in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, is in custody on charges of property theft and evading a police arrest warrant.

Police in Hue City of Thua Thien-Hue Province issued an arrest warrant for No in April 2002 after she had fled her residence there to avoid serving six years’ imprisonment sentenced by the local People’s Court in October 2000.

In May 2000, she had been caught red-handed participating in a group of burglars that stole a handbag containing valuables at Dong Ba Market in Hue.

On June 8, 2023, police apprehended No on Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City and subsequently transported her back to Hue to serve her prison term.

As per available information, No dwelled in multiple locations and adopted the alias Pham Thi Nga as a means to conceal her true identity, elude pursuers, and evade detection by law enforcement after leaving Hue.
