A long-haul bus was traveling on the Nha Trang – Cam Lam Expressway in Vietnam’s south-central province of Khanh Hoa when it crashed into a truck early on Monday morning, leaving two people dead and six other injured.
Nguyen Van Dan, director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, said on Monday that the fatal collision between a sleeper bus and a truck occurred in Dien Khanh District at 5:00 am on the same day.
The long-haul bus was transporting a charity group of 40 people from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Ngai Province in central Vietnam.
When reaching the starting point of the expressway, the driver of the long-haul bus lost control and crashed into a truck running in the same direction.
The front of the sleeper bus was badly damaged after the crash, while two people were killed and six others were wounded.
“The provincial department is working with traffic police officers to support the victims, and identify the deceased,” Dan said.
This is the second traffic accident that has occurred on Nha Trang – Cam Lam Expressway since the road was opened to traffic in May.

The 49.1-kilometer-long expressway, which got off the ground in September 2021 and cost over VND5.5 trillion (US$233 million), has four lanes. The road was put into operation on May 19, allowing for a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
