Public workers in Vietnam will have three days off from December 30, 2023 to January 1, 2024 to celebrate the 2024 New Year, according to the country’s Labor Code.

The 2019 Labor Code promulgates that laborers are entitled to one day off with full salary on January 1 each year.

The first day of 2024 falls on Monday, together with the previous Saturday and Sunday (December 30 and 31, 2023), so laborers in Vietnam is allowed to take a three-day break for the holiday.

Those who have only one day off every weekend will have a two-day New Year holiday, lasting from December 31, 2023 to January 1, 2024.

From 2021, Vietnam has mandated a total of 11 days off for public holidays, including five days for the Lunar New Year holiday, two days for the National Day holiday, and one day each for New Year, Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and International Workers' Day.
