The one-hour rainfall during Sunday evening led to significant flooding on numerous roads in Da Nang City, central Vietnam.
Heavy rain started hitting the central coastal city at twilight on Sunday, slowing down traffic.
The Hai Phong – Quang Trung route near Da Nang Hospital and the intersection between Nguyen Van Linh and Ham Nghi Streets were flooded the most after the downpour.
The two sites frequently face severe flooding during the rainy season.
Serious inundation on these roads caused many motorcycles to break down and multiple commuters to fall.

Nguyen Ha Binh, a resident living on Quang Trung Street, complained about the serious flooding, saying that the rain lasted for only one hour, but rainwater submerged the road.
Meanwhile, the city has just entered the onset of the rainy season.
Flooding will worsen during the peak of the rainy season if no flood control measures are taken promptly, Binh said.
Many residents placed plastic sheets over several manhole covers to prevent the stench, leading to slow drainage and rapid inundation, Binh said.
The Nguyen Van Linh – Ham Nghi intersection was 30 centimeters submerged under rainwater. After the rain stopped, the flood quickly went down.
The developments of convective clouds resulted in showers and scattered thunderstorms across Da Nang, with rainfall reaching over 50 millimeters, according to the weather center of the central region.
