South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics will implement a project to develop smart factories for enterprises in Da Nang City and central Vietnam.
Samsung Electronics Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday with the Vietnam Industry Agency and the Da Nang City Department of Industry and Trade to deploy a smart facility development project for Vietnamese firms in the city and the central region.
Samsung previously carried out another project to set up smart factories for firms in the northern and southern regions, said the South Korean group.
As per the MoU, Samsung will help Vietnamese companies apply a smart factory model through consulting and manpower training activities.
As part of the project, a training and consulting program will last for 12 weeks.
Via the program, participating firms will be provided with knowledge and skills to develop a smart factory by South Korean experts.
Choi Joo Ho, CEO at Samsung Vietnam, said that the signing reflects the firm’s commitment to expand its support for smart factory development in Vietnam.
Efforts in investment attraction and connection between domestic firms and international partners will shore up the growth of industries, especially processing, manufacturing, and supporting ones, contributing to forming value chains in Vietnam, said Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.
In 2022, Samsung Electronics Vietnam started supporting five northern provinces and four localities in southern Vietnam in smart factory development, training 87 experts in the smart factory field and offering consulting services to 38 Vietnamese businesses.
The South Korean firm set a target to help with smart factory development at 50 Vietnamese firms and train 100 Vietnamese experts in the smart factory consulting sphere.
