-- Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Vo Van Thuong, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on Monday afternoon hosted separate receptions for Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, who arrived in Hanoi earlier the same day for a two-day visit.

-- Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, along with his spouse Peng Liyuan and a high-ranking Chinese delegation will arrive in Hanoi today to start a visit to Vietnam through Wednesday at the invitation of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his spouse, as well as State President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse. 

-- The Vietnamese and Indian defense ministries launched a joint military exercise for United Nations peacekeeping operations in Hanoi on Monday.

Society

-- A four-year-old girl in Hanoi was hospitalized on Monday with dozens of wounds on her face and legs after being attacked by a bit pull dog. The dog tested positive for the rabies virus.

-- The Vietnam Rice Industry Association (VIETRISA) made its debut at its first congress for the 2023-28 tenure held in Can Tho City in southern Vietnam on Monday. 

-- The Thang Long Project Management Board, which is authorized to manage the Cao Bo – Mai Son Expressway section in northern Ninh Binh Province, part of the trans-Vietnam expressway, has proposed expanding the section to six lanes from the current four lanes. The expansion project needs VND2 trillion (US$82 million) in investment and will be executed between 2024 and 2027.

-- A total of 38 suspects, including two former ministers, will stand trial next month for their serious violations related to the COVID-19 test kit scam at Viet A Technologies JSC. The trial was scheduled to last 20 days, starting on January 3, 2024, the Hanoi People’s Court said on Monday.

-- Up to 54.3 percent of the nearly 900 Japanese enterprises in Vietnam participating in a survey by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Ho Chi Minh City forecast to be profitable in business activities this year.

-- Forty students from universities in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday rushed to Ben Thanh Market in District 1 to instruct local traders to sell products on TikTok Shop, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Shoppertainment 2023 - Ben Thanh Heritage Market program held between Monday and Saturday this week.
