The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has suggested removing LED billboards around the Ba Thang Hai-Nguyen Tri Phuong steel overpass in the wake of severe traffic accidents at the area.

The steel overpass, located at the crossroads of Ba Thang Hai and Nguyen Tri Phuong Streets in District 10, witnessed two fatal traffic accidents as drivers were distracted by a LED screen placed at the nearby Saigon supermarket.

The municipal Department of Transport warned that LED screens, with their eye-catching content and excessive brightness, pose a high risk by diverting attention and impairing drivers’ vision on the overpass.

To uphold traffic safety, the department urged companies to abstain from using videos or moving advertisements at this site.

Instead, it proposed using tarpaulin panels or similar meterials for advertising billboards.

Also, the department gave support to the municipal Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center’s proposal to put more speed reduction signs at both ends of the facility.
