Two women died after a train hit their motorcycle in Hanoi early on Friday morning as they drove along a barricade-free road adjacent to train tracks.
The fatal crash occurred in Van Binh Commune under Thuong Tin District at 5:30 am on Friday morning.
According to an official from the Thuong Tin People’s Committee, the SE4 train was heading to Hanoi from northern Ha Nam Province when it struck a motorcycle carrying two women on a road running alongside the section of the railroad in Van Giap Hamlet.
The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their motorbike was thrown several meters away during the collision.
The accident happened in the bitter cold when there was little visibility.
The deceased were identified as L.T.K.T., 34, and N.T.S., 32.
They were residents of Thuong Tin District and worked at a local hospital.
