Residents discovered a three-meter-long, 300-kilogram whale washing ashore in Tra Vinh Province, southern Vietnam on Tuesday.
The whale was found to be suffocating on the Ho Thung Beach in Dong Hai Commune, Duyen Hai District, Tra Vinh, commune chairman Lu Minh Tam said on Tuesday.
It attracted many curious residents.
Local fishermen attempted to push the fish back to sea, but it washed back on shore and died.
Local authorities and residents later took the fish carcass to a cemetery for a funeral service.
Last year, locals buried a whale carcass weighing more than 100 kilograms, Tam added.
