House fire claims 4 lives in Hanoi

A raging fire engulfed a five-story house in Hanoi during a heavy downpour on Sunday evening, killing four people, including a woman and three children.
The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the house on Dinh Cong Ha Street at around 6:00 pm.
Several minutes later, the fierce blaze swept through the whole house, which serves as a retail business offering paint products, electrical, and water supply items.
Many senior officials of the city swiftly arrived at the scene to direct a firefighting and rescue operation, which was joined by nearly 100 firefighters and 12 fire trucks.
Rescuers recovered four bodies, identified as N.M.H., aged 53; N.D.D.S., aged 11; N.T.A., aged seven; and two-year-old N.D.K.
The firefighting and rescue operation finished at 10:30 pm the same day.
Authorities then cordoned off the scene of the fatal fire and part of the Dinh Cong Ha Street to investigate the root cause of the blaze.
An eyewitness named N.T.H. said that many people on the fourth floor managed to rush outside, while several others ran to the top floor, shouting for help.
Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters found that the fire-hit house sits in a spacious and airy location.
However, its ground floor was full of electricity and water supply items, paint containers put on iron racks, thereby making two paths leading to the upper floors quite narrow.
