Many residents have complained that they are itchy, covered in rashes, and have redded eyes after swimming at Hon Chong Beach in Nha Trang City, a coastal tourist city in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, over the past few days.
A resident reported that her three children broke out in a rash and have not recovered after applying medicines.
Another parent said his child faced the same fate, accompanied by a fever after swimming at Hon Chong Beach.
He took his child to a hospital where the kid was diagnosed with a bacterial infection.
Locals have advised one other not to swim at the beach on hot or very rainy days.
Many supposed the cause to be the seawater at Hon Chong Beach being severely polluted, while others believed jellyfish and sea worms were to blame.

Since 2018, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper has repeatedly reported that raw foul-smelling murky sewage has been pouring from the north of Nha Trang City into the sea through seaside drainage gates.
Dr. Nguyen Tac An, former head of the Institute of Oceanography in Nha Trang, told Tuoi Tre that it is needed to check if the sewage is still making its way into the ocean or not.
The sewage contains various microorganisms able to cause itchiness, especially amid the scorching weather.
Jellyfish may be a reason, but the main cause may be the untreated wastewater released into the sea.
