-- President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta arrived in Hanoi on Wednesday evening, starting his four-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese State President To Lam.

-- Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai on Wednesday hosted a reception for a high-ranking delegation from the Lao People's Revolutionary Party led by Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications Santisouk Simamlavong.

-- The Department of Health of Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that eight employees of a bank in Bien Hoa City were hospitalized on the same day over suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

-- Heavy rain is forecast to continue battering the northern region of Vietnam on Thursday with rainfall estimated to reach up to 250mm, while the central and southern regions will experience showers, plus thunderstorms, late in the afternoon, according to the national weather center.

-- Several major Indian firms active in the technology and oil & gas fields expected to invest in Vietnam, heard meetings between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Indian business leaders in New Delhi on Wednesday, as part of the premier’s ongoing visit to India.

-- National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and India's Innovation India on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding on collaboration in enhancing the two countries’ economic, investment, cultural, and tourism connections, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Lifestyle

-- The Ba Den Mountain Tourist Area in Tay Ninh Province, southern Vietnam starts halving the price of each cable car ride at night on August 1 to attract tourists during the upcoming Vu Lan Festival, a major Buddhist holiday held annually on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month. The price reduction is set to stop at the end of September.

-- Quang Tri Province in north-central Vietnam will host the Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture Festival in September, which will feature the participation of 17 localities, to honor traditional cultural values of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.

-- The Vietnam Football Federation on Wednesday named Cristiano Roland, a retired Brazilian footballer, as head coach of the U16 men's national football team for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U17 Championship 2025, replacing Tran Minh Chien.
