Heavy rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters is expected to hit Vietnam's northern mountainous regions from Tuesday to Thursday, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides, the national weather agency warned.
Local residents have been cautioned about the potential for whirlwinds, lightning, and strong wind gusts during the downpours.
The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting also warned that the torrential rain could lead to flooding in low-lying and urban areas, while flash floods and landslides are likely in mountainous regions.
The agency noted the possibility of showers and thunderstorms in the northern Gulf of Tonkin and the northern waters of the East Vietnam Sea from Monday night through Tuesday.
These areas could experience whirlwinds, powerful gusts, and waves reaching up to two meters, posing significant risks to fishing boats and vessels operating in the region.
