-- French President Emmanuel Macron and Francophonie Secretary General Louise Mushikiwabo hosted a welcome ceremony on Friday for Party General Secretary and State President of Vietnam To Lam and other delegation leaders, who will attend the 19th Francophonie Summit, at Villers-Cotterets Castle, located about 80 kilometers northeast of Paris.

-- During a routine inspection for passengers arriving at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Friday, customs officers discovered that a male passenger arriving from Hong Kong had attempted to smuggle three kilograms of 9999 gold bars valued at around VND6 billion (US$242,100) by hiding them in intimate areas and inside his shoes.

-- Southern Vietnam will continue to experience frequent rain, with precipitation possibly increasing in the afternoon, while cool weather is expected in northern Vietnam at night and in the early morning of Saturday, according to the national weather agency.

-- The administration of Ho Chi Minh City on Friday approved an investment proposal made by Vietnamese dairy company Nutifood Nutrition Food JSC for a pedestrian bridge over the Saigon River, with a total investment of over VND996.9 billion ($40.2 million).

-- Authorities of Tay Ninh Province, southern Vietnam met with a delegation from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Friday to promote investment, trade, and tourism, as well as to strengthen cooperation between Tay Ninh and Cambodian provinces.

-- Typhoon Yagi, the third storm to hit Vietnam this year, caused severe flooding, landslides, and flash floods across most northern provinces, significantly impacting Vietnam's import-export activities in September. The country’s total import-export value in September declined eight percent against the previous month at VND65.8 billion ($2.6 million), according to the General Department of Customs.
