-- Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong will pay an official visit to Chile from November 9 to 12, and another official visit to Peru as well as attend the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Lima from November 12 to 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.

Society

-- Rescuers located and saved two missing pilots in a military training aircraft crash in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam on Wednesday. The incident forced the two pilots to parachute.

-- Vietnam welcomed more than 14 million international tourists in January-October, surging 41 percent year on year, with South Korea being the largest source market, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

-- Police in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday fined two Frenchmen and coordinated with the municipal Immigration Office to deport them as the foreigners had been found vandalizing local properties with graffiti.

-- A 26-year-old woman was fined VND17 million (US$670) and had her driver’s license suspended for six months as she steered a car in the wrong direction on an expressway in Hanoi.

-- Police in Thanh Hoa Province, north-central Vietnam on Wednesday arrested five suspects who stole over 100 dogs from early October.

-- The Vietnam Football Federation discussed women’s football development strategies in developing countries, including Vietnam, with the Union of European Football Associations and the Asian Football Confederation during a seminar in Hanoi on Wednesday. 

-- The Vietnam Golf Festival is set to take place in Nha Trang, a city in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, from November 27 to 29, featuring the Vietnam Golf Festival Championship with the participation of 280 golfers from across the country.

World News

-- “Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Thursday the government would legislate for a ban on social media for children under 16, a policy the government says is world-leading,” according to Reuters.
