The People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam has tasked the provincial project management board with drafting a flood control project proposal for Tam Ky City, with an estimated investment of VND4 trillion (US$157 million).

The local administration said on Wednesday that it assigned the project management board this task after reviewing a recommendation by the Department of Planning and Investment and the management board to execute the project in the provincial capital city.

The project management board was asked to team up with relevant agencies and local authorities to prepare the proposal in line with prevailing regulations.

Besides, it will support the provincial administration in seeking funding from potential sponsors.

This flood control project is part of Quang Nam’s 2026-30 medium-term public investment scheme, with expected funding through official development assistance loans.

Frequent flooding has hit multiple roads across Tam Ky, causing traffic disruptions and making daily commute an ordeal for local inhabitants.
