A family in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam caused a stir in the online community by placing an old car high in front of their house as a keepsake.
On Friday, a representative of the People’s Committee of Long Binh Ward in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province, stated that they had urged the owner to remove the four-seater car in question from the top of their gate to ensure safety.
Earlier, social media had shared images of an old, green four-seater car precariously placed on the top of a gate, about three to four meters above the ground, near a residential road.
Behind it was the car owner’s house.
The house in question belongs to Pham Anh Duc, 50, who resides in Quarter 2, Long Binh Ward.
Duc moved to Dong Nai Province from the north-central province of Ha Tinh to start a business when he was young.
The car has been with his family for 20 years.

After purchasing a new car, Duc decided not to sell the old one but kept it as a memento.
However, due to limited parking space, he rented a car lift and placed the car on the roof of the gate.
To ensure safety, Duc built an iron frame underneath the car to secure it.
“This is a family asset and keepsake, so I’m keeping it as a memento and not selling it,” Duc explained.
The unusual display has drawn a crowd, with many stopping to take photos and share them online, creating a buzz in the community.
While most people found it fascinating, some raised concerns about the safety of passers-by.

A representative of the Long Binh Ward People’s Committee said they had sent officials to persuade the family to remove the car for safety reasons.
“There are currently no regulations requiring its removal, so the ward has come to persuade the homeowner to take the car down to avoid attracting crowds and causing disorder,” the representative said.
In discussions with local authorities, Duc’s family explained that the car had been on the roof for nearly a year and only the shell remained, with the engine removed before it was placed up high.
After the authorities’ intervention, the family agreed to lower the car.
