A car was traveling on a local street in northern Vietnam when it crashed into a house, leading to the death of a 17-month-old girl on Saturday.

A source of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper said on Monday that police in Tuyen Quang City, the capital of the namesake province, had identified the driver of the vehicle as a policeman.

“He is a police officer in Yen Son District,” said the source.

After the fatal accident happened, a woman confessed to police officer that she was driving the car at the time of the crash.

However, the investigation result showed that the driver was a man.

Police also took his blood samples for drug and alcohol testing.

On Saturday afternoon, the car was running on a street in Nong Tien Ward, Tuyen Quang City when it swerved to avoid a motorcycle crossing the road, ending up hitting a house.

The accident caused the death of a 17-month-old girl in the house.
