The Vietnam’s Under-22 national football squad will be playing with other 11 clubs during the 2013 season of the country’s top-tier football league V-League, according to an unprecedented agreement reached after a meeting of the league’s organizers this morning. With some of the football clubs hesitating to register for participation in the new season, Vietnam Professional Football (VPF), which manages the V-League, convened today in Ho Chi Minh City to determine the final list of competitors. Accordingly, Khatoco Khanh Hoa will not be playing at any professional football tournaments in the future, and its V-League slot has been officially transferred to Hai Phong. The Hanoi football club, and dissolved Navibank Saigon will also not attend the country’s top-flight league next year. The U-22 squad, whose formation includes the key players for the 2013 SEA Games campaign, has been granted a slot to play at the V-League with 11 other clubs from the previous seasons. The 2013 V-League will thus see competitions between Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Saigon Xuan Thanh, Dong Tam Long An, Becamex Binh Duong, Song Lam Nghe An, Hai Phong, SHB Da Nang, Hanoi T&T, Vissai Ninh Binh, Kien Giang, Thanh Hoa, and the national U-22 team. The V-League new season will kick off on March 3 under the two-legged tie model. Specifically, no clubs will be relegated after the tournament finishes. Meanwhile, the second-tier First Division will not have the presences of Hanoi Juniors, SHB Da Nang Juniors, Khatoco Khanh Hoa Juniors, and Ba Ria Vung Tau. Ten other clubs, including Dong Thap, Dong Nai, TDC Binh Duong, SQC Binh Đinh, Can Tho, An Giang, Quang Nam, Than Quang Ninh, Lam Dong, and Hanoi T&T Juniors. The First Division will start on March 2, also under the two-legged tie model and no relegation penalty.
