The operator of Saigon Sports Club (SSC), a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Cross-Training center, held an inaugural ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.
Speaking at the grand opening, Vuong Bich Thang, head of the Vietnam Sports Administration, hoped that the club will attract lots of members and become a great playground for sports fans and martial arts followers, according to news website Van Hoa Online (VHO) run by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
One of the goals of the center is designing professional training programs to sharpen the skills of young fighters in Vietnam to prepare them for international competitions like the Olympic Games, the website reported.
“Although there are many young Vietnamese talents and their fighting spirits are high, most fail to show their true capability and potential due to the lack of training conditions and environments,” VHO cited Trinh Van Tri, director of the SSC, as saying.
“The SSC will provide support in training fees for young fighters to help them fully develop their techniques in martial arts,” Tri said.
Covering 7,500 square meters of training space with cutting-edge equipment, the SSC is considered to be Asia’s largest Mixed Martial Arts and Cross-Training center currently, according to the sports center’s website.
Located in District 7, the center offers world-class training in a variety of martial arts, including Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi Grappling, and Mixed Martial Arts.
The training is offered in a comprehensive array of martial arts disciplines designed to accommodate all skill levels, from beginners to champion competitors, the SSC said on its website.
The training programs are flexibly designed and customizable for SSC members, the website said.
The facility also provides courses like Fitness, Yoga, and Cross-Training.
The SSC currently has nearly 1,000 members, 400 of whom are Vietnamese, according to VHO.
