Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) will broadcast live 152 matches of the J1 League, Japan’s top professional football division, for free in Vietnam over three seasons starting this year.
The J1 League broadcast copyright in Vietnam is held by Huu Tin Company until 2027.
J1 League matches will be broadcast live on the HTV The Thao channel in the afternoon, offering the Vietnamese audience a convenient viewing experience.
With ideal broadcast times and exciting matches, the J1 League is set to meet the demand for top-tier football while offering insight into Japanese culture for fans in Vietnam.
“By bringing the J1 League to Vietnam, we aim to offer a high-quality tournament to Vietnamese audiences and give Vietnamese football the opportunity to observe and learn from the strengths of Japanese football,” said Nguyen Hoang Duy, representative of Huu Tin Company.
“Japan’s J1 League aligns perfectly with this vision, promising to be a unique sports product never seen before in the Vietnamese media market,” added Nguyen Dinh Khoi, head of HTV’s sports department. “We hope that the J1 League will help Vietnamese football develop stronger and bring it closer to Asian football standards.”
The 2025 J1 League season features 20 clubs and 38 rounds, running from February 23 to December 8.
This marks the third time the J1 League has been broadcast in Vietnam, with the first being in 2012 and 2013.
The J1 League has produced many international football stars, such as Hidetoshi Nakata, Shunsuke Nakamura, Shinji Ono, and Park Ji Sung.
Vietnamese footballers like Le Cong Vinh, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Tuan Anh, and Dang Van Lam also played in Japan.
