Expo 2020 Dubai, an international exhibition designed to showcase achievements of nations, kicked off on December 30 at Al Wasl Plaza in Dubai after a coronavirus-induced hiatus, featuring the Vietnam Eternal Flow show with a mesmerizing fashion performance displaying Vietnamese handmade brocade costumes.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism joined hands with relevant agencies to stage the fashion show at this year’s Expo in the hope of introducing Vietnamese ethnic minorities’ cultural and national identity to the world.

The grand fashion performance included participation from over 150 Vietnamese models, musicians, circus performers, and traditional theater actors and actresses.

With the support of a 3D projection, the show meticulously depicted the mythical origin of the Vietnamese people and a panorama of varied cultures across the Southeast Asian country.

During the show, international audiences had the opportunity to admire the unique repertoire of handmade brocade designs from talented designers including Diego Chula, Vu Viet Ha, and Ly Qui Khanh.

Expo 2020 Dubai stated on its website that Vietnam is a nation on the move, yet it still holds a deep appreciation for tradition and the beauty of its timeless culture.

Following the event, organizers hope to promote handmade brocade products to international friends and open up investment and cooperation opportunities in brocade weaving for Vietnam’s ethnic minorities.
