The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People’s Committee on Sunday morning organized an opening ceremony for the 5,000-square-meter Ho Guom Opera House, with the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister of Public Security General To Lam, Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang, and some top officials from the Hanoi administration.
Situated at 40 Hang Bai Street in Hoan Kiem District, the opera house is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.
The opera house, which was built in just 22 months, is expected to serve countless cultural and art activities, exhibitions; and conferences.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, PM Chinh offered his congratulations to the Ministry of Public Security, Hanoi and residents on the opening of such a superb and modern opera house.
The building impresses the prime minister with its alley friendly with the disabled, and the mixture of traditional culture and modern technology.
The prime minister emphasized the significance of the opera house for the cultural development of the capital city and the nation, considering cultural features a lodestar and a motivation for national development.
“All the people have the right to enjoy cultural beauty,” said PM Chinh.
At a national cultural conference in late 2021, Vietnam's Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong highly valued the importance of culture and ordered the priority for investment in cultural insfrastructure.
As such, the prime minister said that the Ho Guom Opera House demonstrates the efforts from the Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi administration not only in expanding residents’ access to top-notch cultural facilities, but also in following the Party chief’s directive.
The prime minister told the Ministry of Public Security to manage and operate the opera house effectively, and enhance cooperation with local and international theaters so that the Hanoi-based opera house can provide locals and tourists with multiple high-quality cultural programs and performances.
The opening ceremony also featured a series of music and art performances.
