The Don Hyang ancient rock field in Gia Lai Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, has become a new tourist attraction to local travelers with its surreal charms.
Located in De Ar Commune under Mang Yang District and some 50 kilometers from Pleiku City, the site is considered a promising tourist destination in Gia Lai.
Locals call it an ancient rock field as they believe that it was formed millions of years ago.
The rock field was previously hidden. It was not exposed until a hydroelectric dam blocked the water flow on the H’Chan River.
Many tourists said they were excited when seeing large hexagon rocks, small rock pools, the cool water flow, and natural landscapes.

The Don Hyang ancient rock field is around 50 kilometers from Pleiku City, the capital of Gia Lai Province in Vietnam's Central Highlands region. |
The area covering dozens of hectares features special rock shapes, including stone columns with a hexagonal shape standing close to each other, which look like a giant beehive.
The rock field also includes small rock pools measuring several meters each in diameter.
In addition to the ancient rock field, there is a stunning waterfall nearby, which is a perfect site to take photos.
The Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has come up with a plan to survey and study the ancient rock field as well as arrange tours to lure tourists to the site.

As the way leading to the rock field is narrow and winding with many slopes, visitors should wear sneakers, slip-resistant shoes, and neat clothes, while paying attention to sharp rocks.
Tourists can bathe in rock pools in summer, but they should ask local residents which pools they can get in as some are six to seven meters deep.
The dry season is the best time to visit the ancient rock field and the ideal time of the day is in the early morning.
