Cuc Phuong National Park, a popular tourist destination in Ninh Binh Province of northern Vietnam, has won the title of Asia’s Leading National Park in 2023 for the fifth time in a row, surpassing many major rivals in Japan, Nepal, and Indonesia.

Bui Van Manh, director of the provincial Department of Tourism, on Monday morning confirmed the win at the World Travel Awards (WTA).

Among the Cuc Phuong National Park rivals are Chitwan National Park in Nepal, Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park in Japan, Kinabalu National Park in Malaysia, Komodo National Park in Indonesia, Minneriya National Park in Sri Lanka, and Taman Negara National Park in Malaysia.

Situated 120 kilometers from Hanoi, Cuc Phuong National Park is a nature reserve that was founded on July 7, 1962.

The national park covers over 22,000 hectares of land in 14 communes of four districts under the three provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa.

Cuc Phuong National Park has an abundance of over 2,200 plants and is home to 122 types of reptiles and amphibians, 66 species of fish, 2,000 kinds of insects, and 135 other animals.

Delacour's langur, a rare and beautiful primate, is known as a symbol of Cuc Phuong National Park.

The national park enchants visitors with its natural beauty, peaceful landscape, poetic scenery, and fresh air.

In late April and early May, Cuc Phuong fascinates guests with colorful butterfly wings.

Cuc Phuong National Park has maintained its attractiveness of ecotourism, one of Vietnam’s key tourism segments, according to the organizer of the WTA.

The awards ceremony for Asia’s Leading National Park is set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6.

In 2022, the city hosted the 29th World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony.

The WTA was initiated in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the global travel and tourism industry.

The annual event has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of global tourism.
