The Thu Duc City Book Street in the namesake city under the jurisdiction of Ho Chi Minh City will be put into operation on Friday next week.
The opening of the book street, located on Ho Thi Tu Street in Hiep Phu Ward, will reward visitors and dwellers with a series of music shows, cultural activities and captivating programs from December 22 to January 1.
The Thu Duc City People’s Committee was determined to open the book street to create a book-reading space, promote the traditional reading culture, and diversify cultural and tourism products.
The book street is 190.6 meters long and spans an area of over 3,500 square meters.
The book street, which will open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm each day, features various areas, including a Ho Chi Minh culture space, a reading area, an old book space, a playground of brain-training games, a book coffee space and a main stage.
Standing on the book street are two rocks engraved with Vietnamese heroic mother Ho Thi Tu’s biography and late President Ho Chi Minh’s saying about reading culture.
The opening of the book street is aimed at marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the fourth anniversary of the founding of Thu Duc City in 2024.
