More than 100 kitesurfers from 18 countries across the world are gathering in Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam to participate in the Open Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan Kitesurfing Tournament 2023, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday.

The Departments of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan Provinces on Saturday opened the tournament on My Hoa Beach in Ninh Thuan.

Truong Ky Ly, a kitesurfer from neighboring Binh Thuan, said My Hoa Beach is appropriate for kitesurfing.

The Open Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan Kitesurfing Tournament 2023 is a sports event held to respond to the National Tourism Year 2023 themed 'Binh Thuan - Green Convergence,' according to Nguyen Van Hoa, director of the Ninh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

By hosting the kitesurfing tournament, the province aims to showcase its strengths in climate, wind power, and stunning beaches, Hoa added.

This initiative is part of an effort to position itself as an ideal destination for both national and international kitesurfing competitions, thereby promoting its landscapes, culture, and hospitable community to a broader audience of tourists, he emphasized.

Ninh Thuan has hosted many kitesurfing tournaments, such as Kiteboard Tour Asia 2016 and Ninh Chu Kitesurfing Festival 2019.

Lai Hoang Phi, deputy head of the organizer of the Open Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan Kitesurfing Tournament 2023, informed that My Hoa Beach annually attracts 2,000-3,000 visitors who practice and enjoy kitesurfing performances.
