Du Gia waterfall in Ha Giang Province, northern Vietnam has long been an attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors to indulge themselves among spectacular landscapes and endless streams of clear blue water, or to even make adventurous jumps.
The waterfall, located in Du Gia Commune, Yen Minh District, daily welcomes hundreds of travelers who come there to contemplate the beautiful scenery, take a bath or swim, or immerse themselves in the fresh, cool water.
Du Gia waterfall has cliffs about six meters high and a deep green natural water pool below, which has water flow all year round, creating a majestic and overwhelming landscape.
Since May 2023, foreigners who like extreme sports have chosen the waterfall as a venue where they can make daring jumps from high rocks into fresh cool water pools beneath.
They can choose rocks at different heights depending on their level of adventurousness.

Coming to Ha Giang for the first time, Charlie, a British tourist, and his two friends said they were greatly impressed with the wild, imposing scenery of the waterfall area.
“It is a wonderful experience for me to immerse myself in the cool clear water at Du Gia waterfall after a long day of traveling by motorbike all over the roads of Ha Giang,” Charlie said.
“I saw many people jump from high rocks into the water below, but I felt quite scared so I didn’t try this experience."

Most jumpers, domestic and foreign alike, made their jumps from rocks at a height of around 3.5 meters, and some of them repeated their stunts amid the cheers of crowds of viewers.
During their four-day trip to Ha Giang, Lyna, a Dutch tourist, and her husband chose Du Gia waterfall as one of their favorite destinations.
She said that she really liked Ha Giang, where every scene is beautiful naturally and there are many different things to discover that are not available in her country.

“I find jumping from a high waterfall to be quite dangerous. They must have been very brave to do so. I felt really scared so I didn’t try it. But the scenes of people jumping down are incredibly exciting. I think they feel completely enjoyable when they touch the cool water from such jumps,” Lyna said.
There is no ban on bathing or swimming at the waterfall but signs of caution have been planted in dangerous places to warn visitors about possible risks including slipping.
In July 2023, a tourist from northern Phu Tho Province who could not swim drowned while bathing in the waterfall area.
