A Vietnamese railway employee recently found and returned a lost bag containing cash, a tablet, and personal papers to its rightful owner, a German passenger traveling on the SE3 train that departed from Hanoi on Wednesday evening.
The bag was found by Nguyen Thi Huyen, a railway staff member, who was cleaning up the train after it left Hue Station in Hue City, Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam on Thursday morning, according to the website of Vietnam Railways Corporation.
While tidying up carriage No. 10 as the train left Hue for Da Nang, Huyen discovered a blue-and-black bag and promptly reported the finding to conductor Dang Xuan Dinh to identify the owner and ensure its safe return.
The bag was found to contain a tablet, personal documents, and US$339 worth of cash.
Further verification revealed that the bag belonged to a German traveler who had boarded the train in Hanoi and disembarked in Hue.
After being contacted by the railway staff, the German passenger expressed gratitude and requested that the bag be kept at Da Nang Station, from where arrangements could be made to send it to Hue.
In response, Dinh and his team recorded the incident in an official report and handed over the bag to staff at Da Nang Station as per his request.
