A Greek athlete made a surprise marriage proposal at the ongoing Teqball World Series Quy Nhon 2024 in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam, on Thursday.

Both teqball players from Greece, the couple competed in the tournament, the first of its kind in the provincial capital city of Quy Nhon, which began the same day at Chien Thang Square.

Teqball is a hybrid sport that combines elements of football, table tennis, and sepak takraw.

The event, running until Sunday, features 115 athletes from 52 countries and territories.

Georgios Milonas proposed to his girlfriend, Paraskevi Stafilidou, by getting down on one knee and slipping a ring onto her finger near a Teqball table, leaving the audience both shocked and inspired.

Stafilidou said that she felt deeply emotional.

“I was surprised and admired the couple and their romantic love. They are so cute,” said Nguyen Ngoc Huong, a resident of Quy Nhon, who witnessed the proposal.

The tournament consists of 124 qualifying matches, with the final match and awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
