The Namaste Vietnam 2024 Festival will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa Province, and Lam Dong Province from August 25 to 31, bringing 20 Indian artists and many Indian firms to Vietnam, Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, told a press briefing in the southern metropolis on Wednesday.

Tourism activities will be among highlights of the fest.

As many as 30 tour operators from India will come to Vietnam to join the fest in the hope of seeking cooperation opportunities in the Southern Asian nation.

“Last night, I received a proposal from an Indian firm saying that it desires to buy or partner with a hotel in Vietnam to bring groups of tourists to Vietnam," Sethi stated.

“Moreover, 10 minutes ago, I received an official document from the enterprise."

In 2019, some 100,000 Indian tourists traveled to Vietnam, while the figure soared to 500,000 last year, according to Sethi.

This year, the number of Indian tourist arrivals in Vietnam is expected to reach from 600,000 to one million.

The hike demonstrated that there are no gaps for travel between Vietnam and India.

In addition, many non-stop flights are operating between the two nations, he said.

Over the past six months, the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has received a series of proposals from Indian companies asking for support to seek Vietnamese partners active in tourism.

“The festival is one of our efforts to cement our role as a bridge between Indian and Vietnamese firms,” he said.

Besides, the festival will focus on such fields as trade, railways, cinema, and education.

Among the 20 Indian artists scheduled to participate are Avika Gor, the star of the popular TV series Balika Vadhu; veteran actor Anupam Kher; actress Helly Shah; actress Yuvika Choudhary; and film producer Rahul Mittra.

The opening ceremony of the fest is scheduled to kick off at Rex Hotel Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City at 5:30 pm on Sunday.

Residents can register to join the ceremony with the Consulate General of India on Facebook.
