The 2024 Vietnam-South Korea Cultural Day Festival kicked off on Saturday in Can Tho City, where South Korea ranks third among the countries and territories investing in the municipality.
The two-day event was launched at Luu Huu Phuoc Park in Ninh Kieu District with 50 stalls featuring both nations’ culture, tourism, cuisine, education, and trade.
The annual event, which was first held in 2022, always receives enthusiastic response from businesses as well as people, especially the youth, Nguyen Thuc Hien, deputy chairman of the Can Tho administration said at the opening ceremony.
Apart from the stalls, the festival features K-Dance Klech 2024, a summary of the K-pop Academy program, a session on preparing traditional Vietnamese and Korean dishes, and folk games from both countries.
A highlight of the event is two nights of Vietnam-South Korea art exchange with the participation of both Vietnamese and South Korean artists, along with other activities.
Hien commented that mutual respect and understanding are essential for fostering empathy and trust between the two nations.

This festival strengthens that foundation and opens up opportunities for businesses on both sides to cooperate in various fields for mutual benefits, he added.
The official noted that South Korea currently holds the third position in the list of foreign investors in the city, with 10 projects worth nearly US$260 million.
One of the standout projects is the Vietnam-South Korea Industrial Technology Incubator, launched in 2015 with a total investment of $21.13 million. It serves as a symbol of the strong cooperation and mutual support between the two countries.
Shin Choong IL, South Korean Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, shared his admiration for the festival’s stalls representing both nations, noting the blend of distinct and shared cultural identities.
He emphasized that the consulate general will continue to support the development of the cooperative relationship between South Korea and Vietnam, especially with Can Tho.
Shin added that the agency will work to enhance student exchanges between the two countries and promote educational cooperation, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources in Vietnam.
