A village along railway tracks in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City becomes a peaceful world amidst the bustling southern metropolis except for when trains pass by.
Lying along both sides of the 20-kilometer-long track street, small decades-old houses form a unique village with simple lifestyle.
Sometimes, residents are startled awake by the sound of train horns at midnight.
However, the overall picture is lit up by a serene life in the trackside village in contrast to the busy city rhythm.
In spite of narrow roads, the village seldom suffers traffic jams and ear-piercing vehicle horns, said some locals.
The trackside village is home to barbershops, eateries, tailor shops and motorcycle repair stores, making the life of residents there convenient and cozy.
Phan Thi Kim Lan, a 75-year-old local of the village in Phu Nhuan District, said that all the residents in the trackside village cherish each other as they have lived near each other for tens of years, with a deep and long lasting neighborship.
Over 150 students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University visited the trackside village on Friday and Saturday, as part of their cooperative training course launched by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
Through the visits, these students not only had a chance to explore the simple but happy trackside life, but also captured beautiful moments on camera.
