On May 28, the fashion show titled “Dem Hoi Chan Dai 7” (The Long-legged Bash 7) received a VND35million (US$1,683) penalty for its unpermitted underwear performance, and other violations.

The show, held by Venus Co. on May 20 in HCMC’s District 7, was fined by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for featuring an underwear show which wasn’t included when the program’s content was submitted to the department for approval.

According to the department, the organizer was also fined for changing the show’s content without permission, and for advertising liquor with an alcoholic content of higher 30%, an action that is banned in Vietnam.

The department’s vice director, Vo Trong Nam, added that in the next few days, the department will work with models who participated in the show and issue appropriate penalties.

He said that the underwear segment was considered erotically obscene and culturally inappropriate by the department’s officials.

Earlier, the organizers of “The Long-legged Bash 7” were also warned by the cultural department for its invitation cards, which featured 19 semi-nude male and female models
