An exhibition featuring the lifelike, unique casts of 40 local celebrities’ hands, the first of its kind ever in Vietnam, is set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 23 and 24.
The exhibition, titled “The angelic hands – The golden hearts” and put on by Ban Tay Thien Than Co., will take place at the Continental Saigon Hotel, Dong Khoi st. district 1, at 9:30am on June 23 and the entire June 24.
The hand casts of the personalities in various areas including art, education and science, such as traditional music professor Tran Van Khe, late prolific composer Pham Duy, writer Nguyen Quang Sang, Sang’s son – film director Nguyen Quang Dung, cai luong (southern traditional music) artist Le Thuy, actor-director Thanh Loc, and pop singers My Tam and Quang Dung, are made to their real hand dimensions and vividly reproduce all of their fingerprints, lines and creases.
Each pair of hands was molded by Ban Tay Thien Than Co.’s director, Nguyen Hoang Cam Anh herself, who put the hands into a mixture of harmless and durable powder, kept them perfectly still for a while before taking them out. The technique, imported from Australia, produces only one cast of each celebrity.
The program organizer will also put the hand casts up for auction to over 300 guest businesspeople on the evening of June 24 to raise funds for the “Thuy’s dream” Fund, initiated by Tuoi Tre to recognize Le Thanh Thuy, a steel-willed girl who passed away some years ago after years of combating cancer, and to help cancer kid patients.
Several personalities whose hands were cast will also be present and hold heart-to-heart talks at the event.
Tickets sell for VND50,000 (US$25), and all the proceeds and donations will be handed over to the “Thuy’s dream” Fund.
