Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are well-prepared to celebrate one of the year’s biggest festivals for kids, the Mid Autumn Festival, which falls on September 19.
In Hanoi, Tuoi Tre Theater in Hai Ba Truing District is organizing a show called “Dung dang dung de, dat tre dao cho que,” (Taking kids around the countryside market), which promises to bring local kids a joyful festival. The event, to be held at 8 pm on September 19, will feature puppet and circus performances, comedy, traditional food and folk games.
In addition, the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre will showcase “Ton Ngo Khong ba lan danh bach cot tinh” (Sun Wukong’s three beatings of the white bone demon) at 361 Truong Chinh Street until the end of September 19, while the Central Circus in Hai Ba Trung District will be busy with “Ngay hoi cua nhung chu he.”
On September 18, the two finalists of the reality show “The Voice Kids Vietnam,” Quang Anh and Phuong My Chi, will perform at a show titled “Ong trang ơi! Xuong day choi” (Mr. Moon! Please come down and play with us) held by Dong Do Show. The event will take place at 8pm at the Hanoi Opera House, 1 Trang Tien Street.
Vietnam Television will also celebrate the occasion, with its program titled “Le hoi mat trang” (The moon fest), featuring performances by singers Anna Truong, My Linh and Kyo York, comedian Minh Beo, and many other artists. The show will take place at 8:30pm on September 18 and will be broadcast live on VTV1.
Meanwhile, in the southern city of Saigon, Dam Sen Park in District 11 is organizing a music show called “Trung thu sum vay” (Gather on Mid-autumn festival) at 6pm every day from September 14 to 19, while the HCMC Children House in District 1 will hold an event named “Vui don trang ram” (Happy to celebrate Mid-autumn festival) from 5pm to 9pm on September 18 and 19.
Another event, “Dem hoi trang ram” (Mid-autumn fest), to be held at 8pm on September 18 at Nguyen Du Stadium in District 1, will features music, a circus and lion dance performances. The show will also hand out 50 gifts for disadvantaged children.
At 7pm on September 19, another namesake show will be open for free at Sen Hong Stage at 23/9 Park in District 1.
Also on September 19, Hoang Thai Thanh Stage in District 1 will offer a free show for visually impaired students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu high school and kids on dialysis.
A cai luong show for children titled “Chu Cuoi va cay da than” (Uncle Cuoi and the magic banyan tree) will be broadcast on HTVC Thuan Viet on September 19. On September 16, it was showcased for free for disadvantaged kids from shelters and orphanages around the city.
Last but not least, Idecaf will also contribute to the occasion with its new play titled “Hoang tu Gau va hat dau than” (The Bear prince and the magic pea). The play will be showcased until October 13 at Ben Thanh Theater in District 1.
