World Economic Forum initiative launches Saigon-themed graphic design contest

Monday, July 07, 2014, 15:20 GMT+7

A graphic design contest with the goal of beautifying Ho Chi Minh City has recently been launched for designers and artists.

Titled “Saigon Makeover,” the contest held by Global Shapers Ho Chi Minh City Hub aims to create an opportunity for the city’s designers to share their design skills and creative vision of how different parts of the city could be improved.

Interested artists must first take a picture of a public place in Ho Chi Minh City and then redesign it however they wish, changing the infrastructure or adding modern elements. Work must be sent to saigonmakeover@gmail.com by 11:59 pm on July 31.

The best designs will be determined by a panel of judges. The winner will receive VND10 million (US$471) and the runner-up will be awarded VND5 million ($235).

The entry with the most likes on the Saigon Makeover Facebook Page will receive the Online Voting Award, also worth VND5 million.

Global Shapers Ho Chi Minh City Hub is part of Global Shapers, an initiative by the World Economic Forum to develop a network of hubs led by exceptional young leaders driven to contribute to their communities. There are now 320 hubs with 3,500 members globally.
