A short movie co-produced by and starring a Vietnamese actress has won the “Best UK Drama” and “Best Lead Actress” awards at the Oxford International Short Film Festival (OXISFF) 2019.
Infill & Full Set is a 14-minute short movie jointly produced by Vietnamese actress Nha Phuong, who also plays the female lead.
The short film was nominated in a total of four categories at this year’s OXISFF, including Best Film, Best Lead Actress, Best Music Score and Best UK Drama.
Outperforming many other nominees, Infill & Full Set was announced as the winner of the two prizes of “Best UK Drama” and “Best Lead Actress” at the OXISFF 2019 awards ceremony in Oxford on March 23.
Made in four days with a tight budget of 5,000 GBP (US$6,593), Infill & Full Set tells the story of a pregnant illegal Vietnamese immigrant woman in London who uses fake identification documents to find employment at a nail salon.

Unfortunately, she gets in trouble on her first day and becomes trapped between the moral boundaries of honesty and survival.
The movie was finished in 2017 and promoted at the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film Corner in May 2018.
Actress Nha Phuong said at a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City after winning the two OXISFF awards that it was the effort of the whole production team that made the movie a success.
Phuong added that the two awards for her are “great luck and encouragement.”
The OXISFF 2019, which just debuted this year to celebrate the diversity and creativity of short films, attracted a bunch of entries by filmmakers from all over the world, with Infill & Full Set being the only entry from a Vietnamese producer.
