Three Vietnamese military generals received the Order of Playa Girón from the State of Cuba during a ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday.

At the event, the Cuban state decided to award three Orders of Playa Girón, seven Orders of Antonio Maceo, and 23 Orders of Friendship to 33 individuals in the Vietnam People's Army.

The Orders of Playa Girón were given to General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, deputy secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense; General Ngo Xuan Lich, former Politburo member and former deputy secretary of the Central Military Commission; and General Luong Cuong, Politburo member, standing member of the Central Military Commission, and chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

The Order of Playa Girón is a national order conferred by the Council of State of Cuba on Cubans or foreigners with valuable contributions to the development of the Cuban revolutionary armed forces as well as global peace and development.

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén said that the orders were awarded to individuals who contribute to the development and consolidation of the relationship between the armed units of Cuba and Vietnam and of the friendship between the two peoples.

On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang thanked the Party, state, people, and revolutionary armed forces of Cuba for their rewards for officers and soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army.

The defense cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba has been strengthened over the past years, with many important cooperation agreements signed by the two militaries, Giang continued.

This is living proof of the comradeship, brotherhood, and solidarity, contributing significantly to the two countries’ bilateral relations.
