With maximum winds of 49 kph, the tropical depression that is hitting the central Philippines will enter the East Sea Tuesday, the Vietnam National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Center has warned. At 7 am on July 29, the depression was centered at 13.6 degrees latitude north, 121.5 degrees longitude east, in the seas area south of the Philippines’ Luzon, packing winds of 39-49 kph and gusts of up to 75 kph. The depression is moving northwest at 15-20 kph and at 7 am July 30 it will be seen 700 km east of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, with winds of the same strength. The depression will cause rough seas and winds of up to 45 kph to the northern and middle areas of the East Sea. Showers and thunderstorms will affect this area. In combination with strong seasonal southwest winds, the storm will also cause rough seas in the middle and southern areas of the East Sea, including the sea of Truong Sa (Spratly), and in the region between Binh Thuan and Ca Mau provinces, with winds of 45kph and gusts of 62 kph. Rainstorms and thunderstorms will occur in the sea areas. The combined weather conditions will bring medium and heavy rains to southern Vietnam starting today, mainly in evenings and nighttime, according to the Southern Hydro-meteorological Station. In northern provinces and north central provinces the depression will cause rainstorms during the first days of this week. The wet situation will slow down in the middle of the week and will rebound over the weekend. Flashflood and landslides may occur in mountainous areas. The region from Da Nang to Binh Thuan Province will have sunny weather in the first days of the week but will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms.
