S’pore foundation to help train 140 Vietnamese officials in leadership capability

Singapore’s Temasek Foundation has pledged it will help train 140 Vietnamese officials at the provincial, municipal, and district levels from now to the end of 2015 at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

>> Over one-fourth of Singaporean SMEs operating in Vietnam The foundation made the commitment, which is part of a cooperation program run by the NTU and Vietnam, at a conference held in Hanoi on Friday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The program is aimed at training government officials abroad using funds from the Vietnamese state budget.  The courses at the NTU for the 140 officials will be centered on improving leadership capacities, developing human resources, and sharing Singapore’s public administration experience. They will help increase the officials’ leadership skills in Vietnam’s international integration process and enhance the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. Last year, 148 Vietnamese officials also received such training in the city state. As shown on its website, the NTU is ranked 39th in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2014 – up 35 notches in four consecutive years. In July 2011, the Singaporean university became the first in Asia to be rated 5 stars under the new QS Stars rating system, the website says. Temasek Foundation is a philanthropic organization that seeks to build a more prosperous, stable and connected Asia through building human and social capital, according to its website.
