U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius on Wednesday visited young people and children at two charitable and social organizations in the central city of Da Nang. While visiting Fablab Da Nang and Tra Lai Tuoi Tho (Giving It Back To Kids) in Hai Chau District, Ambassador Osius talked with young people and children on the topics of life and their passions. At Fablab Da Nang, a member of the global Fablab network, the ambassador was surprised to see young people there using digital technology to produce tools and toys. These youngsters talked with the ambassador in English fairly fluently. Fablab Da Nang is an organization that promotes and encourages creational activities of young people in the city and teaches English to children. At Tra Lai Tuoi Tho, a non-profit charity organization, the ambassador talked and played with disadvantaged children and orphans who are being brought up there. Today, August 27, Ambassador Osius will take part in a number of activities within the U.S’s Pacific Partnership 2015 program in Da Nang. These activities include the inauguration ceremony for the renovation of the Hoa Quy Health Center, drills in response to disasters to be conducted at Da Nang’s 115 Emergency Center and on ships, and a press conference to sum up the performance of the program. The Pacific Partnership 2015 is the largest multilateral humanitarian support and disaster responses and relief program that takes place annually in the India-Pacific region. This year’s program is joined by the U.S., Australia, France, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and East Timor. Notably, this year marks the first time that two U.S. naval ships joined the program.
