A fire roared across an expansive patch of grassland in Dong Nai, a neighbor of Ho Chi Minh City, on Sunday, causing locals to flee from their smoke-shrouded homes.
Residents in the provincial capital of Bien Hoa first noticed a small fire at the six-hectare grassland, about the size of eight football pitches, at around 6:30 pm.
The blaze rapidly spread across the area, sending flames over ten meters high into the air.

The dense smoke was blown by winds to nearly 20 neighboring houses an hour later, forcing local authorities to rush to help residents immediately leave the buildings.
The fire was contained at around 8:15 pm, only after it razed the grassland.
No casualties or property damage was reported and the investigation into the incident is still underway.
