A seventh grader at a middle school in Tay Ninh Province of southern Vietnam was severely battered by the husband of a woman whom she collided with in a road accident this weekend.
Dang Van Phuc, head of the Tay Ninh Traffic Rescue Team, said on Sunday that the cohort is working with police officers of the province's Cha La Commune to investigate the assault of a local schoolgirl.
The victim was identified as Ho Bui Bao N., a seventh grader at Cha La Middle School in the commune.
The incident took place on Saturday, when N. was giving one of her classmates a ride to class on her electric bike, according to a report.
She later crashed into Le Thi Mong Truc, a 25-year-old woman who resides in Cau Khoi Commune of Tay Ninh, as the latter was crossing the street, causing both to fall over.
After the crash, 31-year-old Tran Van Man, who is Truc’s husband, promptly showed up at the scene before scolding and attacking the student, regardless of N.’s cries for mercy.
The teenager tried to flee, but Man caught up with her and booted her down a ditch on the roadside.
N. has yet to recover from the traumatic experience, said Le Thi Kim Thanh, 55, N.’s grandmother.
“She is still little and everything [about the road crash] was unclear at that moment, yet Man pushed her down a ditch and only left when she passed out,” Thanh said, sobbing.
“N. will have to sit her final exam on Monday but she’s still in panic so I can’t be sure."
After being interrogated by police in Cha La Commune, Man admitted to having caused the harm to N.
Relevant agencies should evaluate the extent of damage wreaked on N. and address Man’s crime as per the law, a representative of N.’s family requested.
