Thousands of forest rangers, firefighters, soldiers, policemen, and local people fought several forest fires that broke out in Huong Thuy Town, located in the central Vietnamese province of Thua Thien-Hue, on Monday.

The first blaze erupted in an area growing earpod wattle near Nam Lang Lake in Thuy Phuong Ward at around 11:00 am.

Other fires were also reported in a similar earpod wattle forest in Thuy Chau Ward and near a military-run shooting range in Phu Bai Ward around that time.

Authorities in Thua Thien-Hue mobilized more than 200 people, including forest rangers, firefighters, policemen, soldiers, local residents, and four fire trucks to put out the blazes.

However, the forest fires had remained out of control as of 5:00 pm on the same day.

The authorities thus increased the manpower to nearly 1,000 people and prepared plans for an overnight fight against the forest fires.
