Vietnam confirmed only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry announced 12,210 recovered patients on Sunday, elevating the total to 1,500,248.

The toll has climbed to 34,319 mortalities after the ministry logged 202 deaths on the same day, including 21 in An Giang Province, 19 in Ho Chi Minh City, 15 in Long An Province, 14 in Dong Thap Province, 14 in Vinh Long Province, 13 in Kien Giang Province, 11 in Soc Trang Province, 11 in Can Tho City, and the remainder in 20 other provinces and cities.
