Authorities in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Dinh reported a drowning case while continuing the search for another missing person on Tuesday morning after a group of high school students had gone swimming at a local beach the previous day.

The deceased was N.T.T.Tr. while the missing one is N.V.A., according to Truong Ngoc Hoang, chairman of My Tho Commune in Phu My District, Binh Dinh.

Tr. and A. were among a group of four 12th graders hailing from My Chanh Commune in the same district coming to My Tho for a beach swim at around 5:00 pm on Monday.

The two were swept away by strong currents.

While local people managed to find Tr.’s body later, A. remains unaccounted for.

“Currently, functional forces and local fishermen are still trying to search for the body of N.V.A.,” Hoang said.

“People from other localities coming here to swim should pay attention to rip currents during this season to avoid accidents."
