A Vietnamese man was beaten to death by a mob outside a casino in the Cambodian city of Bavet on early Friday morning, local police said.
The victim is 34-year-old Duong Minteang, a Vietnamese chef, who was assaulted by a group of people wielding sticks at 3:15 am on Friday in front of Casino 67 in Bavet Kandal Village, Bavet Sangkat, Bavet City, the Khmer Times cited local police.
Cambodian authorities said the murderers were also Vietnamese, who fled immediately after committing the crime.
Before the incident, the victim went to a pawnshop to get some money to gamble in the casino, witnesses said.
A group of four to five suspects then followed Duong and talked to him, but they suddenly attacked Duong, fatally injured him, and escaped.

Local residents reported the incident to local police, who came to the scene for examination and investigation.
They also checked nearby security cameras to identify the perpetrators.
Cambodia has recently recorded a lot of information about workers being illegally detained in casino cities such as Bavet or Sihanoukville, VnExpress reported.
These people are said to have to work in bad conditions, under the management of criminal gangs.
Earlier on August 18, a group of 42 Vietnamese workers fled from the Rich World Casino in Cambodia’s Kandal Province and tried to swim across the border Binh Di River in Vietnam’s An Giang Province, to return to homeland due to overwork and unpaid jobs.
Among these runaways, 40 reached Vietnam, one died during the river crossing, and the remainder was recaptured by the casino guards.
On Wednesday, the Cambodian Immigration Department said they were carrying out procedures to deport the recaptured worker along with 10 Vietnamese others, also from this casino, after interrogating them, Cambodian media reported.
